Back at the start of March, I started a new structured series over at the NosillaCast podcast, hosted by Allison Sheridan at [podfeet.com](https://podfeet.com/). The series is about audiobook audio: not the performance side first, but the practical decisions that help me record, edit, and produce Jern's audiobooks with fewer surprises later.

In [Part 1: Capture Right, Stay Boring, Sound Human](https://www.podfeet.com/blog/2026/03/audiobook-v3-pt-1-eddie-tonkoi/), I explained why the series exists at all. The short version is that I threw away about forty hours of audiobook editing and started again from the original recordings. That was not a glamorous creative revelation. It was more the sort of lesson that arrives wearing steel-capped boots.

The useful lesson was simple: instead of recording audio I can fix later, I need to record audio that does not need much fixing. That changes the order of the work. Capture comes first, the chain stays boring, and editing becomes improvement rather than rescue.

That first part set up the whole V3 idea: record closer to the target, make important decisions early, and stop trusting future-me to repair problems that current-me could avoid.
